Comic Book Charmers: Dennis & Gnasher Jewellery Inspired by The Beano
My childhood love of The Beano began a lifelong passion for comic books. Beano’s colourful characters, bold graphics, and cheeky storylines still make me smile. So when Licensed To Charm began, Dennis and Gnasher simply had to be part of our first jewellery collection.
Inspired by Mischief
Dennis the Menace and his loyal sidekick Gnasher were always my favourites. Like many fans, I still have my Dennis and Gnasher Fan Club badges. Those nostalgic designs, along with classic comic artwork, inspired our Dennis tag collection — jewellery that speaks to both long-time fans and a new generation of Beano lovers
From Comic Panels to Sterling Silver
The Dennis and Gnasher Classic Charms are based on iconic comic poses from the 1970s. Each charm begins as a 3D model recreated from the original 2D artwork. Once approved, it’s moulded, cast in sterling silver, and then oxidised and polished to bring every detail to life. The result is a miniature work of art that captures Beano’s mischievous spirit.

Beano Typography, Reimagined
Another standout feature of Beano is its distinctive lettering. To celebrate the 75th anniversary in 2013, publisher DC Thomson worked with Hemingway Design to refresh the style guide, drawing from decades of comic history.
Inspired by this, we created our Beano Alphabet collection — sterling silver initial charms featuring etched and oxidised typography. Each letter has crisp, sharp lines and a bold duo-tone effect, making them perfect for playful personalisation or gifting.

Gifts for Fans & Collectors
Whether you’re treating yourself or searching for a nostalgic gift, our Beano jewellery is handmade in the UK from sterling silver. Designed to be worn on necklaces, charm bracelets, or collected as keepsakes, these charms celebrate the rebellious fun of Dennis & Gnasher.
